Afterlife and Hell.com

Okay, everyone. We have two sites this month. Neither are exactly "Christian" per se. Both are pretty visceral.

First, I want you to check out Afterlife. As many of us are wondering what websites-as worship (as opposed to simply information) would look like, I think that photograhper Jonathan Clark has shown us some of the Web's nigh-limitless potential...and there are not even a lot of bells and whistles here. I won't say too much about this...I don't want to ruin it for you. Suffice it to say this site is beautiful and more than a little disquieting. Go to it when you have at least 30 minutes to spend, grab some herbal tea, and prepare to be engaged.

Secondly, go to hell. Hell.com that is. Just do it. Play with it. You'll be glad you did.

whenever a website "takes over" your browser and won't even let you see the X or close button, use the combination of Alt F4 or if you have a Mac, Apple(option) W.
This way you won't have to reboot. Alt F4 is also handy for keeping up with pop ups galore that happen sometimes too, although not so much these days, viva la blockers.

I love Hell.com. It is worth the effort of trying to get in and figure out what the hell.com is going on. When it asks you to sign up for the waiting list go ahead and do that. Then follow a couple of simple e-mail directions and you'll be in and just as frustrated/amused as I have been.
The Afterlife site is great also. I enjoyed the soundtrack and the first couple animations kinda freaked me out a little. Very cool.
These two sites are what the internet should be about: creative use of a very powerful medium. If hell.com and the afterlife site are too much for you be sure to try bored.com and look for the 'virtual bubblewrap.'

AfterLife in the cemetery brought to mind psalms reminding us how fragile and temporary we are - like grass or flowers growing and then withering. I liked the transparency of the site - the photographer is open about his identity.

Hell.com was as cynical as you can get. Sign up your money, sell your soul if you like - but this alternative virtual reality is sponsored by undisclosed identities. You can get out by searching in google.com, or you can just buy the t-shirts.

The afterlife site was beautiful...Very thought provoking...I guess we don't realize how pretty cemeteries can be.

Hell.com is just...goofy...I don't get it either. I guess its like actually going to hell...Some of the graphics were cool, though. I tried to talk to a few people but no one seemed very talkative. But, when I tried to leave the site, I couldn't. I just could not for the life of me find the exit button. I had to Cntl Alt Delete and shutdown to get out! Not really my cup of tea, or should I say, boiling cauldron of hellish brew.

i didn't get it either... hell.com seemed a little hellish to figure out!

I checked out both sites - the picture site is amazing!

Hell.com... well, I tried it out and I'm not exactly sure what is supposed to happen or what you are supposed to do. If anyone has insights... let us know!
